North Texas Division Calendar Dates and events subject to change - check often This is the ONLY OFFICIAL CALENDAR for North Texas USFA sanctioned events. If a tournament held in NORTH TEXAS DIVISION DOES NOT APPEAR ON THIS CALENDAR, FENCERS MAY NOT EARN RATINGS at that tournament - even if the tournament is posted on the Section calendar or on www.askfred.net. Sanctioned North Texas Division events are highlighted in blue (participants may earn new classifications). Tournaments not currently sanctioned by North Texas may not earn ratings for participants. Organizers may download the sanction request here. SSCC and Regional Youth Circuits (highlighted in aqua) means this tournament earns points within the Southwest Section. USFA and SUPER Regional Youth Circuits are highlighted in yellow. An athlete may fence in an age category IF: 1) the athlete's birth year falls in that age bracket OR 2) the athlete is on the national point standing in the next younger age bracket. For example, if a fencer is 9 years old, he/she can fence in Youth-10 and Youth-12 but can fence in Youth-14 ONLY IF he/she has earned points in Youth-12 and is listed on the current Youth-12 point standings. For that same fencer to be eligible to fence in a Cadet event, the fencer must have earned points at a Youth-14 competition and be listed on the current Youth-14 point standings.
Points are awarded to places in the top 60% of the field to a maximum of 32nd place. At all National Championships points are awarded for places 1 to 32 regardless of the size of the field: Junior Olympic Championships, Division I Nationals, Junior, Cadet and Youth 14 at the Summer National Championships. Points for Youth 12 and Youth 10 at the Summer Nationals are given to the top 60% of the field down to 32nd place.

Important information concerning Regional Youth Circuit Events:
NOTES: Preferred format is one or two rounds of pools with 100% promoted to a direct elimination ladder of 2 of 3 5-touch bouts. "0" or "2" blades are required of all fencers competing in Youth 10 competitions.
There will be three Super Youth Circuits at which points will be awarded. Only one SYC result in the weapon and age group will be considered for the relevant National point standings. Points are awarded at the SYC to those placing in the top 40% of the competitive field, regardless of where the cut occurs, with no rounding, using the National point tables for Youth 10, Youth 12, or Youth 14 as appropriate.
Tournament eligibility:

For the NAC Y12 and Y10 tournaments, athletes must compete in at least one RYC or one SYC competition in the current season in the age category and the weapon in which the athlete intends to enter. NAC Y14 tournaments are open.
For the Youth 10 and Youth 12 competitions at Summer Nationals youth fencers must have competed in one RYC or one SYC or NAC Youth in the current season in the age category and weapon in which the athlete plans to enter.
For the Y14 National Championships at the Summer Nationals, Y14 fencers MUST either be on the Y14 National point standings on May 1, 2005 or place in the top 25% of their Division's Y14 qualifying competition. See Chapter 2 of the Athletes Handbook for more details on qualifying paths to the Summer National Championships.
