2003 Annual Business MeetingThe 2003 Annual Business Meeting was called to order by Jeff Crowe, Chairman, at 3:00 PM at the Fencing Institute of Texas. Executive Committee members present were:
SECRETARY'S REPORT: Minutes from 2002 Annual Meeting had
been posted on the internet and were accepted as posted. TREASURER'S REPORT:
ARMORER'S REPORT: The biggest problem we have currently is the fact that we have no floor cords left. Motion to purchase new floor cords by Attila Kocsardy; seconded by Bill Huheey. Motioned amended to state Ovy Waddoups to purchase electrical equipment to make UGLY floor cords. Motion passes unanimously. Ovy stated he is willing to inventory the Division equipment with the new officers and make repairs as necessary. It was pointed out by Bill Huheey that Ovy is a National Armorer and trusted by the USFA to work Summer Nationals, so North Texas Division is lucky to have him. SELECTION OF SECTION CIRCUIT TOURNAMENTS: Grapevine Texas Fencing Club will host one of the points-earning Regional Youth Circuits in December. Due to a scheduling conflict, the Duel at Dallas was unable to supply the Section with a tournament date and deferred to Fencing Institute of Texas as the next in rotation. Fencing Instiute of Texas will support the Section with the DeGall Memorial as the Southwest Section Circuit event in April. It was agreed Dallas Fencers would be given an opportunity to host the SSCC event next season. If they are unable, the next in rotation would be Lone Star Fencing Center. Jeff Crowe reminded everyone that the rotation is: Fencing Institute of Texas (2003/4 season), Dallas Fencers (2004/5 season), Lone Star Fencing Center (2005/6 season), Renaissance Fencer's Club (2006/7 season). It was suggested that Grapevine Texas Fencing Club and La Touche Fencing Club should be added to the rotation: Grapevine Texas Fencing Club (2007/8 season) and La Touche Fencing Club (2008/9 season). Should a club defer, the next club in the rotation is given the first right of refusal; therefore the season may change. Also, as our area grows and we develop more clubs, there may be additional clubs joining the rotation. [Note: Clubs must designate the tournament, date, and venue to the Section before 1 August of the season. You must have a large enough venue to support the SSCC - usually 12 strips or more - and run the tournament using software compatible with FRED. SSCC designted tournaments must have SSCC designated events, and other events are discouraged due to the volume of fencers at SSCC events.] Brenda Waddoups presented the Nominating Committee's Report.
Elections were held. Aly Khamis nominated Brenda Waddoups as Secretary. Helen Mitchell elected. All others elected as nominated. Ovy Waddoups moved to adjourn; Bill Huheey seconded; motion carried. Meeting adjourned at 5:45 pm. Return to top of Page
